Dr. 菲利普Keiser

Dr. 菲利普Keiser serves as Galveston County Local Health Authority (方面). Dr. Keiser, an infectious disease expert, was appointed to the role in October 2016.  

Dr. Keiser is a professor of medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where his duties include clinical care, education and research. His primary interest involves the care and treatment of HIV and its related infections. He has been actively treating HIV infected individuals for more than 20 years, serving in various roles with local, 状态, national and global HIV and AIDS initiatives.

Prior to joining UTMB, Dr. Keiser was a professor of medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. His experience also includes roles with the Baltimore City Cancer Research Program, VA North Texas Health Care System and Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

Dr. Keiser holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Morgan State University in Baltimore and obtained a Doctor of Medicine from University of Maryland. He performed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Francis Scott Key Medical Center in Baltimore and his fellowship in infectious diseases from University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Authorized by Chapter 121.021 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, a local health authority is a physician appointed to administer 状态 and local laws relating to public health within the appointing body's jurisdiction. Examples of the duties of a local health authority include aiding the 状态 with quarantine, sanitation enforcement, public health law enforcement, reportable diseases and vital statistics collection. A local health authority serves for a term of two years and may be appointed to successive terms.
